Empowering Health & Hope in North Texas
At Petra Brook, we’re more than just a non-profit; we’re a family. Our journey began with a deep-seated commitment to addressing the health disparities that impact the African American community in North Texas, particularly new immigrants to this area. As first-generation immigrants with strong ties with our faith, our leadership witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by individuals navigating a new culture, limited access to quality healthcare, and the weight of chronic disease.
Inspired by faith and driven by a passion for social justice, our founder, Dr Adetunji Bakare , embarked on a mission to create a beacon of hope and wellness. With years of experience in digital communications, the team combined a strong academic grounding in public health with the lived experience of our target community. This is what inspired the development of innovative solutions that are both culturally sensitive and evidence-based.
We are in constant and meaningful communication with the community, which allows for the implementation of unique programs.
We will work hand-in-hand with community partners, including churches, local health organizations, and passionate volunteers, to build a healthier future, through digital-first means, for all.
